The California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division has been testing sound emissions of motorcycles and ATV's for about a year. This information can be used to help enthusiasts find a muffler for their OHV that will comply with sound emission's standards. Only tests with a reading of 101 dBA or less less are included. The list is by make, model and year of the OHV tested. Select the manufacturer of your OHV to link to the list for that manufacturer
This list is not intended to be an endorsement of any product, nor does it guarantee compliance if installed on your off-highway vehicle. Not all mufflers will work the same on all OHV's. Since results vary with modifications, along with vehicle care and maintenance, there is no guarantee these mufflers will work on your particular OHV. **Remember, the noise limits are not just enforced during events, there are laws in place now for riding on both private and public lands. Check the laws at the State and County levels before you ride.
If you are interested in purchasing your own AMA and Government Agency approved sound level meter to do your own testing, go to www.machovec.com or call Jay at 763-263-9835. |
